TIP: CRT TAPE BACKUPS

INSTRUCTIONS FOR PROPER TAPE BACKUP ROTATION

Start with three stacks of tapes.
Label the stacks as DAILY, ENDWEEK & ENDMONTH.

The DAILY stack should have four tapes, the ENDWEEK stack should have four tapes and the ENDMONTH should have the remaining number of tapes. It is very important that you keep the tapes in the proper stack at all times.

Each morning, you should eject a tape from the server and insert the correct tape
TO DETERMINE WHICH TAPE TO USE, ASK THESE QUESTIONS
If it is the last business day of the week (no matter what day it is), pull the tape from the ENDWEEK stack. If it is the last day of the month (no matter what day it is), pull the tape from the ENDMONTH stack. All other days, pull from the DAILY stack.

INSTRUCTIONS FOR TAPE CLEANING

This process can be as simple as inserting the cleaning tape
